Maps on Your Website

Last week we wrote about APIs, what they are and how powerful they can be.

One of the APIs that was mentioned and that is worth saying a little bit more about is the powerful Google Maps API. Fancy an interactive map on your website? Well, this API is for you.

I'm sure we've all seen Google Maps while searching and have come to appreciate that they are very useful and can even provide driving (or walking) directions or flag up positions using little icon markers.

Being able to locate your office(s) or store(s) as a customer is sometimes a critical factor when deciding to make the trip, particularly if meetings are required or inspection of goods is needed before a purchase is made. By providing a map such as Google Maps on your site the potential customer is able to identify your exact location and decide for themselves when and how to visit.

Remember that by integrating maps with data you can provide dynamic mapping such as GPS positioning as well as static store location mapping. Have a think what your customers would like to see on your site that would help them with the process of engaging with you.

If you want to use Google Maps API then there is ample documentation or you can contact us and we'll get to work on implementing it.
