EI were privileged to be involved in the selection of a web development supplier for a company that we’re providing consultancy work for. Our role was to ensure that the technical prowess of the companies that were bidding was genuine and to make sure that no smoke and mirrors were used to win the contract.
It was interesting to see how the companies took different approaches to the presentation itself. We had a wide range of methods ranging from the sit-down and chat with us to the formal presentation with handouts etc.
It’s certainly the case that while there was no wrong way of presenting it did give us an insight into how the relationship might develop, should that company be appointed. Were we looking for a master and slave relationship or one that allowed for a more conversational, perhaps even casual way of working?
Whatever your presentation style and in whatever sector and industry, it is important to allow your company’s ethos to shine through. However, it is just as important that your the key product, service, facts and answers are given in the presentation too – a couple of slick presentations slipped up on that!
