The Year Just Gone

With the start of a New Year everyone looks forward and not many look back. Perhaps that's how it should be but it's certainly worth considering how 2009 can be built upon. As news of the recession starts to become less prevalent and even an economic upturn is considered possible it is worth taking time now to make sure you can cope with increased demand in the year to come.

Think through your processes for order placing and accounts management and spot any inefficient areas of work: Are people entering the same data more than once (one of my pet hates!) or are IT systems causing your staff a headache because of their complexity?

Spotting these problems doesn't necessarily mean coming up with an immediate answer but it does give you an opportunity to investigate possible solutions. And you don't want to be doing that when you're busy with new orders, do you!
