Why Click Here is Not a Good Idea for a Link

At a website optimisation seminar last week, Peter Slegg came up with an excellent example to demonstrate the importance of inbound links to any website.

Good website optimisation relies on having web links that have a description or keywords as their text and not the ubiquitous click here. Links that are formed this way add value to the page that they are pointing to. Peter's demonstration is to do a search for click here in Google. See the Adobe Acrobat Reader download page at the top, right?

For years Adobe have been distributing their Reader download with click here as the link ... and you can see the effect! Well done Peter for an excellent example of how inbound link wording is key to search engine optimisation.
